Create Fruit Salads For A Change

Every time we hear the word “salad,” what usually comes to our mind is, “lettuce”. And even if lettuce is a great ingredient of a good salad, it is not necessary. Salads are actually made up of anything, but fruit is a great substitute.

From the name itself, a fruit-based salad consists of different kinds of fruits that are mixed altogether. You may also include lettuce and some veggies, too. But usually, the most important ingredients are a variety of fruits. Just consider your entire favorite fruits, imagine them combined into a bowl, topped with cream or milk, and that makes a very delicious salad.

Although preparing this salad is just so easy, there is actually an even faster way of preparing it. Just go to your nearest grocery store and buy a can of mix fruits. Just drain the fruits, then pour them on a mixing bowl and pour the toppings, so your salad will be even tastier. Examples of these toppings are cream topping, yogurt, milk, raisins, peanuts and many more.

Most people prefer their salad to be healthier, so try adding freshly picked fruits to your salad. Examples are apples, bananas and even strawberries. You may also try mangoes, watermelon, and apples or any of your favorite fruits.

Again, to prepare a salad is very simple. Just come up with your favorite fruits of different variety – apples, grapes, strawberries, cherries, and oranges, then you already have the perfect salad to serve. Most melons, like honeydew melon, may be cut and then put up for storage on a fridge. Strawberries, grapes, blue berries, raspberries, figs and blackberries may be rinsed off lightly and then put on a fridge.

1. Cut your lettuce and rinse lightly for about 3 minutes in vinegar water (2/3 water, 1/3 vinegar).

2. Remove old leaves from vegetables like cabbage, lettuce and the top part of carrots before storing in your refrigerator.

No-Bake Fresh Fruit Tart Recipe

Ingredients:

1 pkg of softened cream cheese (8 oz)
1 Tbsps of grated orange zests
2 Tbsps of juice (orange)
1/2 c of powdered sugar
1 pc of pie crust (crumb, 8 inch)
6 pcs of tart shells (crumb)
2 c of fruit (fresh, like whole berries)

Instructions:

Combine cream cheese, juice, zests, and powdered sugar; beat thoroughly till fluffy and creamy. Fill the (tart) shells or (pie) crust with the mixture and refrigerate till thoroughly chilled.

Sprinkle sugar above the fruits.

Macedoine Of Fresh Fruit Recipe

Ingredients:

4 large-sized oranges; slice thinly
2 large-sized apples; dice
2 large-sized pears; dice
1/3 c of walnuts
4 Tbsps of rum
2 large-sized bananas; cut in cubes
1 can of raspberries (frozen)
1 lemon (large)
1/4 c of orange juice (fresh)

Instruction:

Combine orange juice with rum using a bowl. Add fruits (pricked to absorb marinade) and soak a few hours, stirring often.

Put in raspberries plus the walnuts when served. Sprinkle confectioner’s sugar over layers when serving ice cold with ice cream. Can also be served with cakes.

Old Fashioned Fresh Fruit Crisp Recipe


Old Fashioned Fresh Fruit Crisp Recipe

Ingredients:

6 cups of fruits (fresh)
1-1/2 cups of sugar (dark brown)
1-1/2 cups of rolled oats (not instant)
1/2 cup of grated cheese (Asiago or Parmesan)
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of flour; sifted
6 ozs of butter (sweet)

For the Garnish:
Ice Cream (Vanilla)
or
Cream (softly whipped)

Instructions:

Place the fruits on the base of slightly buttered 9×12 inch (baking) dish. Combine oats, sugar, salt, and cheese inside a bowl. Add butter and mix quickly onto the mixture of sugar, forming a (coarse) meal.

Sprinkle the mixture carefully above the fruits. Bake inside preheated oven, 375 degrees F for 35 mins or till top turns slightly brown. Serve them warm along with ice cream.

Morning Fruit Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 pc of cantaloupe (ripe, medium)
2 pcs of kiwi fruit (ripe); peeled, halved crosswise and sliced thinly
2 c of strawberries (ripe)
1 c of raspberries or blackberries (fresh)
3 Tbsps of mint leaves (fresh); chopped
1/4 c of juice (freshly squeezed orange)
4 pcs of mint sprigs (fresh)

Instructions:

Scoop the cantaloupe meat using a melonballer; place the balls on a mixing bowl along with its juice. Quarter the thinned slices of kiwi fruit; add onto the mixing bowl with the cantaloupe balls.

Save 4 pieces of very beautiful strawberries then hull the rest; slice them lengthwise then place onto the mixing bowl, along with the fruits. Add the raspberries; gently mix.

Sprinkle mint then drizzle juice above the fruits. Toss them gently and cover. Place inside the refrigerator for 30 mins.

Divide evenly onto four bowls and garnish strawberry on each bowl and mint sprig.

Fresh Fruit Frappe Recipe

Ingredients:

1 c of cut-up watermelon
1 c of cut-up pineapple
1 c of cantaloupe
1 c of cut-up mango
1 c of halved strawberries
1/4 c of sugar
Ice (crushed)
1 c of juice from orange

Instructions:

Mix all of the fruits & sugar in blender. Blend on mid-speed ’til smoothened. Add crushed ice and juice. Continue blending ’til thoroughly mixed.
